The Past Continuous is perfect for describing what you were doing at a specific moment yesterday, last week, or a long time ago. Let's dive in!
We use the Past Continuous to talk about an action that was in progress at a specific time in the past.
Basic Structure
Subject + was/were + verb with -ing
I / He / She / It → was
You / We / They → were
Here is how we use it in different types of sentences:
1. Affirmative Sentences
To say something was happening, just follow the basic structure.
2. Negative Sentences
To say something was not happening, just add not (was not = wasn't / were not = weren't).
3. Interrogative Sentences (Questions)
To ask a question, put was or were before the subject.
