Journalist: I’m here in Ethiopia with Elena, who manages a local coffee cooperative. Elena, how has the Fair Trade partnership changed things here?

Cooperative Manager: It’s been a game-changer. Before, we were at the mercy of local traders who paid very little. Now, we have a direct line to international buyers.

Journalist: And what about the Premium? I see a new building down the road.

Cooperative Manager: Exactly! That’s our new processing center. We used to have to travel 20 miles to process the beans. Now, we do it here, which saves time and keeps more profit in the village.

Journalist: Is it difficult to maintain the certification?

Cooperative Manager: It’s a lot of paperwork, honestly. We have to prove our sustainable practices every year. But in the long run, it’s worth it for the stability it provides our families.
