In American schools, Valentine's Day is a big event. It is not just for boyfriends and girlfriends. It is for the whole class.

Every student brings a small box from home. They decorate the box with red and pink hearts. This is their "mailbox."

During the day, the students put small cards inside the boxes. They give a card to every student in the class. Nobody is alone. It is a day to be kind and say "You are a good friend."
