Reading - Underwater Rugby

Imagine playing rugby, but in a swimming pool, at the bottom! Yes, it's true! Underwater Rugby is a team sport played underwater. It's very fun and a bit different.

Two teams play this game. Each team has six players in the water at one time. The players wear a mask to see, fins to swim fast, and a snorkel to breathe when they are near the surface. They don't use the snorkel much during the game, though!

The goal is to score. How? You need to put a heavy ball into the opponent's basket. The baskets are on the bottom of the pool, one for each team. The ball is not like a normal rugby ball; it's filled with salt water, so it sinks! It's heavy and moves slowly in the water.

Players can swim all around the pool, up and down. They can pass the ball to their teammates, but only underwater. You can't throw the ball out of the water! Players also try to stop the other team from scoring. They can push and pull each other a little bit, but it's a very fair sport.

Underwater Rugby is a very physical sport, but it's also about teamwork. You need to work together with your friends to win. It's a great way to stay fit and have fun in the water. It's a unique sport, not as famous as soccer or basketball, but it's growing! Maybe you can try it one day!
